The organizer

This assembles your own files into the format described on the records page — a correspondence log, a notice log, an evaluation timeline, an exhibit index, and a chronology — and gives them back to you as one PDF. It runs entirely on your own computer.

01Before you start

What this does, and what it does not

  1. Everything happens on this computer. Your files are read in this browser window. No file, and nothing read out of a file, is sent to this site or anywhere else. Once this page has loaded, it makes no network requests at all — you can disconnect from the internet and it will still work.
  2. It arranges what you give it. It selects nothing and pre-fills nothing based on your state or your situation, and it does not assess your file. It puts your documents in date order, numbers them, and prints the logs. What the documents mean is not something this tool has any view about.
  3. Nothing is filed without your say-so. Where the tool can read a date or a document type out of a file, it offers what it read and shows you the words it came from. You confirm or correct every entry before it goes into the packet.
  4. It reads text-bearing PDFs and saved email. PDFs that carry real text, and .eml files saved out of a mail program. Scans and photographs can be listed as exhibits, but their dates and types have to be typed in — this version cannot read text off an image.
  5. Your original files are never modified. They are read and closed. The packet is a new document.

If an outcome could affect your child's placement, services, or eligibility, consider obtaining qualified assistance — a parent center listed on your state's page, an advocate, or an attorney — before responding.

03The packet

What comes out

One PDF, generated on this computer and saved through your browser's own download. Five documents in it, in this order:

  1. Correspondence log. Date, correspondent, method, subject, exhibit number.
  2. Notice log. Prior written notices and their state equivalents, with the date the document carries and the date you say it arrived recorded separately.
  3. Evaluation timeline. Evaluations and reports in date order.
  4. Exhibit index. Every file you added, numbered, with its filename exactly as it is on your computer.
  5. Chronology. One list, newest at the bottom: date, event, exhibit number.

The packet holds the logs, not copies of the documents themselves. The exhibit index names the files, which stay where they are on your computer.
